Presentation by Mercedes IGLESIAS BÁREZ and Michael G. NÚÑEZ TORRES
Abstract
Octavio Paz said that “memory is not what we remember, but what reminds us. Memory is a present that never ends.”
This Presentation is only an act of memory for Professor Angela Figueruelo Burrieza, who is and will be, for all of us who know her, our continuous present.
It is also an act of justice and recognition of the Spanish University and of her beloved Mexican University and Academy.
Precisely, the realization of this act of justice was a concern of those of us who signed this presentation, however, it was also a concern of different people who have dedicated themselves to the study of Public Law and who have had a direct or indirect approach to the teaching of the distinguished professor of the University of Salamanca, both in Latin America and in Spain. This is how, thanks to the support of Professor Alonso Cavazos Guajardo Solís, it was established that the International Journal of Public Law of the University of Monterrey, of which he is co-director, was the appropriate space to carry out the noble task of paying tribute to Professor Figueruelo through a series of works that constitute significant contributions to the Science of Public Law, especially in the field of fundamental rights, freedoms and equality that has been so important to our distinguished teacher.
