Abstract
When I was asked to write a few lines about what Dr. Angela Figueruelo Burrieza has meant and means for equality and gender studies, I felt fortunate and tremendously honoured to be able to write about this brave woman from Sayaguesa de Almeida who, from a young age, understood that she had to work and study to help raise her extended family with several brothers and sisters alongside her father, Pepe, and her mother, Margarita.
I have known Angela and have worked with her side by side since 2002, which is why I am aware of her personal commitment, as a constitutionalist, to equality as a higher value, as a subjective right and as a principle of the legal system. By bearing this seal and imprint in her DNA, I have had the privilege of witnessing, not only as a colleague, but also as an accomplice and friend, how she has dedicated many efforts in her professional life, essentially in recent years, to fighting for the challenge of effective gender equality.
