Abstract

The primary objective of this work is to analyze the case of Soares de Melo against Portugal, describing the correct approach taken by the European Court of Human Rights when resolving the case, but also analyzing other variables of discrimination that were not analyzed by that body of Justice. , precisely because they were not raised by the appellant. It is intended to demonstrate that, in this case, there was also intersectional discrimination, based primarily on the poverty of Mrs. Soares de Melo.
