En los últimos años, la colaboración entre las ciencias especiales y el Derecho Ambiental ha demostrado ser clave para la creación de conceptos y la comprensión del objeto de regulación de esta rama del derecho. Sin embargo, esta relación se ha visto distorsionada por distintos mecanismos que influyen sobre la valoración de los datos científicos para demostrar impactos, riesgos y daños en el medio ambiente. Curiosamente, esta dinámica ha venido aparejada con el desmantelamiento de instituciones encargadas de recopilar y generar información en materia ambiental, por lo que, de continuar así, el conocimiento sobre las distintas relaciones ambientales aportado por las ciencias, se verá seriamente distorsionado y en el peor de los casos, inutilizado.
